Joe's interest in painting began when, in his final year at Downlands College Toowoomba Qld he chose to study Art. Initially, Joe worked with acrylics, however, after joining a local art group he discovered the rewarding medium of oils.
After a hiatus of twenty years he felt the need to resume creative avenues, varying his paintings with either brush or palette knives with a intuitive process.
Joe portrays the raw and native conditions found in the Australian bush with texture and colour, either from memory or using my own photos from surrounding travels as reference.
Listening to all music genre while painting affects Joe's subconscious mind and swings his mood.
