By submitting your artwork(s) you agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions.


1.1. The KernArt Prize will run as a virtual online art show via Gallery247

1.2. The show will open on Friday 23rd April 2021 and will run through until 5pm on 30th April 2021


2.1. Our online submission system opens on 1st April 2021 and entries close 5pm Monday 19th April.

2.2. All submissions will be made via Gallery 247.

2.3. Once you have logged in to Gallery 247 you can save and return to your entries at any time.

2.4. Closing date for entries is 5pm on 19th April 2021.

2.5. Artwork details such as text and price can be edited through the Gallery247 portal up until 19th April. The system is then LOCKED to allow for the curation of the show. No edits are permitted after this lock-down date.

2.6. All details you enter are then used should your work be selected for exhibit. Those details serve as your artwork label and assist in selling your artwork, so please ensure this information is correct.

2.7. Submissions made via Gallery 247 are also subject to their terms and conditions.

3.1. An entry fee of $10 will be charged for each artwork submitted for consideration.

Entry fees are not refundable and are payable whether or not the work is selected for exhibit.

3.2. A 20% commission is charged on sold work and is payable by Gallery 247 to The KernArt Prize Inc.


4.1. The following categories are available for artists to submit to: Monday 19th April 2021.

➢ Works on Paper

➢ Photography

➢ Glass and Ceramics

➢ Sculpture

➢ Jewellery

➢ Textiles


5.1. Each artwork must be available for sale for the duration of the show and must not be currently exhibited in any other art show.

5.2. Each artwork must be the original work of the artist, must have been produced in the last 2 years and must not have been entered into The KernArt Prize in previous years.

5.3. There are no limits on the size or weight of artwork for entry in 2021, however artists should be aware of the shipping costs associated with their submissions.

5.4. There is a limit of 5 submissions made per artist, however each submission incurs a separate fee, and artists should be aware that regardless of the online nature of the show in 2021, each submission will be subject to a pre-selection process and the curation process will be held to its usual high standards.

5.5. Each artwork will be for sale at the price nominated by the artist. Artists must remember to include GST where applicable. Artists must also consider the commission that will be deducted for KernArt.

5.6. All entries will undergo a pre-selection process and the curators for KernArt reserve the right to not accept an artwork and to limit the number of exhibits.

5.7. The artist understands that the curators for KernArt have the final say, and that no correspondence will be entered into.

5.8 Guest Artists - Works submitted by a Judge, guest or invited artist will not be eligible for competition. Such works will be for exhibition and sale only.

5.9 Additional works - Individual artists may at the discretion of the Organisers be invited to supply more than the maximum number of works.

6.0 DO NOT SEND YOUR ARTWORK TO KERNART! The Artist acknowledges that if their artwork is selected for entry, DO NOT send it to KERNART. The artist will instead be notified by Gallery247 of where to send artwork if and when it has SOLD.


7.1. The artist acknowledges that when submitting an artwork via Gallery247, they will be asked to enter the cost of shipping their artwork to a buyer. If the artist is unsure of that cost, we strongly recommend contacting your nearest Pack & Send to get a quote based on the size and weight of your artwork. Or you can check the Australia Post website and use their calculator to estimate cost of postage at https://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/calculate-postage-delivery-times/#/

7.2. The artist acknowledges that a buyer will pay the price that the artist has set for their artwork plus the cost of shipping (that the artist has stipulated on their submission). It is important for artists to ensure that their shipping costs are adequate to cover their costs. Neither KERNART nor the buyer will be responsible for errors in shipping costs made by the artist.

7.3. Gallery247 will notify the artist of any sale and will send the artist the delivery address and contact details of the buyer. It is the responsibility of the artist to arrange shipping / delivery.

7.4. Artists will need to pay for their shipping upfront and then funds (price minus commission plus the shipping cost as set on your Gallery247 details) will be transferred via electronic transfer to the artist’s nominated bank account by Gallery247.

7.5. The Artist indemnifies KERNART against any claim, loss or damage of whatever nature or cause however occurring and whether directly or indirectly relating to entered artworks or their delivery to the buyer.

7.6. It is the responsibility of the artist to ensure suitable insurance covers are enacted for the duration of the event including the period to cover shipping.

Note: Pack & Send, a national drop-off service specialising in artwork transportation, is Gallery 247’s preferred shipping supplier.


8.1. By entering artwork into KERNART, the artist agrees that KERNART may use the artists’ image(s) to promote KERNART for the current exhibition and future promotion of the event.


9.1. Artists will be notified by Gallery 247 if their artwork has sold.

9.2. Funds will be transferred via electronic transfer to the artist’s nominated bank account within 4 weeks of the events conclusion.

9.3. It is the artist’s responsibility to ensure that their bank details are correct in the Gallery 247 system.

9.4. Artists are liable for all and any GST on entry fees; on charges for handling and on sales [where applicable].

9.5. GST (if applicable) on sold artworks will be forwarded to the artist along with the balance of the ex-GST price after the deduction of any outstanding moneys. It is the responsibility of the artist to include the GST in their BAS.


Pre-Selection Panel

  • Each year the Organisers will appoint a Pre-Selection panel to review entries.
  • The Panel will initially review and assess all submissions received, and will decide which works will be invited to exhibit at the Art Show.
  • The Show Judge/s may or may not be part of the Pre-Selection Pane panel.
  • All decisions on acceptances are final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
  • Artists will be notified which of their works have been accepted to be exhibited prior to the opening of the Show.

Show Judging

  • Each year the Organisers appoint an external Art Show Judge/s for the Show
  • Judging takes place after the Art Show installation is complete


When registering for KERNART on Gallery 247, as appropriate, you will be asked to enter your: name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number and bank details.

Any information collected from you may be used to improve customer service by contacting you directly or to process monetary transactions. The email address you provide may be used to send you information, respond to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions.

Your information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of exhibition.

We may use your images for promotion of KERNART in the current year and in the future.


KERNART INC accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to any artwork. The Artist is responsible for obtaining their own insurance.
